Welcome to the blog
If I’m not at work (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5) then I’m either at home doing laundry, seeing my therapist, trying not to eat chocolate or wondering how to get an additional 6 hours out of every day!
When I started this blog, it was from a love of writing and a need to share. Over time, that need to share has become less selfish and more selfless – I want to share with you so that you know somebody else out there gets it: I understand the struggle that is mental illness, the rollercoaster ride that is parenting, the drive that gets you out of bed and into work each day, and when combined? I understand how hard it is to balance this thing called life.
I originally started blogging in 2011 through pregnancy and being a first-time mum and I know some of you have been following me ever since – thank you!
This blog is so much more than me and anything I’ve done previously. I want this blog to be a space that enlightens everyone who visits to recognise and understand that mental health disorders are an illness but that the people living with them are more than that. We are siblings, children, parents, bloggers, workers and most importantly, humans, just like everyone else.
What kind of content can you expect to find from me? Here’s a few to start with:
I’m Shareen, a 28 year old Londoner, mum and mental illness warrior.
I’ve been raising a future Queen and King since 2012 and 2014. I live with them and their dad Mr.A – my super patient, loving other half.
My motto for everything is One Day At A Time which doesn’t mean I don’t have goals and aspirations, just that I focus on making daily progress so I don’t overwhelm or disappoint myself.
I’ve been living with general anxiety disorder since childhood but it really came to the front when I had the children. Since then I’ve also dealt with postnatal depression and depression which I’m not currently living with anymore. I was on medication for a year in 2016 and haven’t been on any since. That doesn’t mean there hasn’t been times when I haven’t considered possibly needing medication again.
I love soca music, freshly fried donuts you can only get by the sea, and feeling like I’m on a rollercoaster when a plane lands!
I’m not a professional but I can listen and I do care so if you ever need someone to vent to, or to ask my advice on anything you think I could help with, my inbox is open or you can DM me on Insta.
This blog is still a work in progress but I’m making it better every day so take a look around, come find me on Twitter or Insta and let me know what you’re loving, what you need or just have a chit chat!
Love, Blessings & Don’t Forget To Stay Awesome
