With such a variety of personalities and interests in our house, I’ve been waiting to write this post since Christmas Eve because I KNEW there was going to be something to put in here. You can guarantee that no matter what they say they want and what you know they like, there will always be a percentage that relates to a ones lack of interest in a gift.
Without further ado, here are our 2018 hit & miss gifts.
Mr.A (28yo Male with an interest in music, football and anything that’s expensive)
BEATS EP Headphones (Normally £79.99, currently reduced to £49.99 in Currys-PC World) – there are not the BEATS he wanted but they were the ones I could comfortable afford so that’s what he got and he loves them. #Winning
I will also add Football Manager 2019 to this list as I have literally bought him every years Football Manager game bar 2 since 2006.
A bottle of Apple Ciroc gifted by Mr.A’s brother. This was a miss mainly because Mr.A doesn’t drink vodka LOL
Myself, Shareen HD (A 28yo Female with an interest in eating food, sleeping and trying to love myself)
Kindle Fire 7, 8GB – I have an old make Kindle Fire which barely works so this was a much appreciated update plus Mr.A bought me 3 books I’ve had in my “Saved for later” basket on Amazon.
A bottle of Courvoisier V.S. also from Mr.A’s brother as I also no longer drink this after it being my drink of choice for about 10 years.
Miss 6 (A 6yo pink loving, unicorn believing, LOL Surprise fanatic)
LOL Bigger Surprise (£59 – £75 depending when you buy it and where you buy it from). This is something Miss 6 had been asking for since June and we promised she would get if she done good in her after-school activities. So obviously, I told her she wasn’t getting it the closer we got to Christmas and it was worth it for the happiness on Christmas day. Also, this one is definitely worth the money in my opinion (We did get it for £59 though).
Other winners for miss 6 include Pikmi Pops; and Jojo Siwa hair bows & a Jojo Siwa notebook set.
Even though it’s a joint present, the classic Twister definitely wasn’t really enjoyed. I think it might be better from around 9 upwards tbh. For younger children, it’s too much hard work and not the most fun from what I gathered.
Master 4 (A 4yo lover of dinosaurs, cars, Paw Patrol & PJ Masks)
Paw Patrol My size Lookout Tower (Around £60). This has been at the top of his list for a few months now and was a gift from his Nana. Definitely the winner this year.
Other hit’s include his first pedal bike (£75 from Decathlon); a Hulk figurine; a play medical carrycase; and the Soggy Doggy board game (I found it highly disappointing personally).
To be honest, anything that couldn’t be opened and played with instantly i.e. the Orchard Toys Cheeky Monkeys game is something other people have to play with him and he wanted his “own” things.
What gifts were a hit or miss in your house this year? Or is there something you really wanted or thought you was going to get and it didn’t happen?
